 Sunday started
with breakfast in La Jolla and an attempt to get to church (we missed mass, but met the
priest and spent a little time on this school playground :-) |
 We
visited a good friend of Aunt Susie's, John, from the Cleveland Institute of Art. John is
a designer for Nissan, and gave us a great tour of their studios where cars like this 350Z
are designed (John's was the winning design for the 2004 Quest Minivan). |
 We stumbled on Mt.
Soledad, an incredible 360 degree vista which overlooks La Jolla (in the background),
UCSD, Miramar, etc. Dad spent a little time talking with a Marine veteran of WWII at
the war memorial there. |

 A visit to the Birch
Aquarium, part of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, prepared us for tide pooling we'd
do the following day. Very neat to sit and watch the fish in the aquarium's kelp
forest, representative of such areas in coastal San Diego. |
