on the roadOn the road again, this time to visit with Aunt Barb and family in DeWitt, Michigan (just north of Lansing). sleepin on the roadAlli caught a nap while Eddie and Nika colored, read books, and enjoyed the scenery.
all us at the msu parkAunt Barb and Uncle Jack took us on a tour of the Lansing area, including this stop at the "Children's Garden" at Michigan State.  We also saw the football stadium where Uncle Jack played on the Spartan's. clara & nikaJumping on the "musical sidewalk" and standing in the sun to watch the trains go by sure made us hot, but a lunch (thanks to Aunt Barb) was cool in the shade.
horses! We visited the farm where Clara helps take care of horses. on the fenceAunt Barb and all sure have met some neat people around town, including the family and caretakers of this farm.
in the loftNeal took us up to the barn's hay loft (notice the window far, far in the background).  He also taught Dad how to establish a golf swing as they drove golf balls in the neighborhood school yard. in the show barnThe girls visited the show barn while Dad and Eddie played pretend baseball outside. You should have seen Eddie smack the ball over the entire barn!
everyone! Here we are on the steps of the main barn's office that houses a veterenarian. in the airport hangarWe missed cousins David and Gordie who were on a jet-ski trip "up north" while we visited.  While visiting the municipal airport where they both work part time, Uncle Jack told the story of the Navy planes that mistakenly landed here one night (their destination was a few miles due north).
piano girlsWhile the girls enjoyed Clara's piano skills, the boys played lots of Nintendo in the basement, especially "Smash Bros", a go-kart race and demolition derby. the powersDad really wants to go back to the Michigan state museum in capitol Lansing for more time in the car industry exhibit.  There's even a room made up like a UAW hall.
dancing girlAunt Barb was right when she said there'd be something for everyone at the museum.   Allison enjoys dancing here in the music section, and everyone enjoyed playing school in the old classroom. fireworksAunt Barb was also right that we'd  enjoy the Lansing Symphony Orchestra 4th of July concert at the stadium, though the fireworks were a bit loud for Alli.  Aunt Barb organized this stadium concert for several years, retiring recently to return to the schools.
sleeping fireworksIt wasn't long before Alli zonked out.  It was such a cool, dry night with a wonderful breeze after several days of heat and humidity.
