Our
big summer vacation began in Cleveland. Grandma treated us to dinner in the Flats
(downtown on the Cuyahoga river). |
Marty and Jon hosted
Allison's birthday party in their beautiful backyard in Cleveland Heights. |
A
classic photo of Grandma and Alli. |
Alli
blows out 3 candles with a little help from Nika and Mom :-o |
Do
these kids have personality or what? Eddie was actually having a much better time
than he might look here, honest! |
We
missed having Uncle Mark around (not to mention Grandpa Eddie). Uncle Mark was a few
weeks into his 2 month Peru climbing trip by this point. |
You
can't stay at Grandma's house without playing "customer" -- having a meal,
pretend or not, at the bar in the basement. Look closely, Nika and Eddie are in this
photo too! |
This
summer was the turning point for swimming, and it all started here at Miss Peggy's pool
across the street. |
Eddie
swims for the side -- on a later trip in the summer, he jumped from the diving board and
swam the whole length of the pool! |
Alli
did great with a little help in the floatation department :) It might look like she
was on her own here, but Dad was right behind ready to "catch" her. |
We also took a trip to Kiddie Park, where
Eddie and Veronika have mastered the roller coaster together. |
The front car is the best! |
Dad
drove these very same boats as a kid at Euclid Beach Park, from which most of Kiddie
Park's rides come, though he remembers being a tad scared of falling in the water! |
We also visited the Cleveland Zoo, staying
cool with the misting sprinklers and having fun on a pretend Elephant :) |
Our friend Sue says Alli is destined for vetrinary school, and
who knows, perhaps taking care of elephants at the zoo someday. |
We
got to feed birds with nectar. You can just see Eddie at the left of the photo
wearing his Boy Scout camp hat, and Nika lower center in her cool jean hat. |
