Work
took Chris to Hawaii for a software implementation. This photo was taken before work
one morning from the top of Diamond Head overlooking Waikiki, Honolulu, and Pearl Harbor
in the distance. |
The
"windward" coast of Oahu reminded Dad of the California coast. This beach
could only be reached by the adventurous climber. |
Chris
& coworker Lisa went mountain biking with John Alford, author of Mountain Biking the Hawaiian Islands.
"Riding with John was like riding with a good friend. He picked some great
scenic trails, told us about the history of the area, and made sure the ride matched our
fitness and bravery. Despite living 4,800 miles away, we [Chris & Ann Marie] are
already talking about returning next year for a 3 day ride & adventure." |
It wasn't long after this scenic trail (Kanoehe Bay in the backround) that Chris wiped
out. He was thinking about how to implement the Hawaiian spell-checker John
envisioned when he ignored the little voice in the back of his head saying "you know
you shouldn't try to ride over those tree roots!". Fortunately the injuries
were minor and the bike was retrievable. |
Snorkeling in Hanauma Bay was awesome. This photo, taken from
the visitor center overlooking the beach & bay, shows how the waves break far enough
out to calm the water for both experienced fish and novice snorklers. |
Chris
explores some tidal pools and the life within. This beach is visible in the photo
above (trust me). |
